On May 20th, our media coordinator, Maddie, organised a Pink Ribbon Breakfast Fundraiser at our Wellington office. For those unfamiliar, a Pink Ribbon Breakfast is a yearly event hosted by individuals or organisations throughout the country to support the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ (BCFNZ). BCFNZ funds cancer research, provides resources, and advocates for education.
Here's what she had to say:
After seeing the ads on Instagram and feeling inspired, I chose to host my own Pink Ribbon Breakfast. I figured Skylight would be the perfect venue for a fundraiser. The team quickly agreed that it was a fantastic idea, so I began the planning process. With under a month to prepare, there was plenty to do, but I was eager to dive in and raise some money.
I sent invites to our office staff, the counsellors and contractors we have across the motu, and to our office neighbours, Asian Family Services and the Problem Gambling Foundation. I sent out posters and more information, and we quickly surpassed $500 in donations.
In the following weeks, I contacted many organisations and companies throughout Wellington and Aotearoa to seek sponsorships or donations to support the event. The response was astounding! Thanks to the generosity of many wonderful businesses, I was able to arrange a delightful (vegan) selection of breakfast foods, sweet treats, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. Additionally, I organised a raffle to further encourage donations from the team.
During this time, I received a lovely hosting kit from the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, and I started gathering supplies to decorate the space, prepare the raffle prizes, and tie up all those loose ends. Before I knew it, it was the day for breakfast!
We set up the room, arranged the breakfast, got the prizes ready, and invited everyone in to enjoy the food and drinks. It was a wonderful chance to thank everyone for their generous donations and reflect on what we had achieved as a team. Below are some pictures of the very pink breakfast, and a very happy team.

It was a fantastic success and a powerful reminder of what we can do when we come together. While writing this article, our fundraiser was sitting at $1001, which is an incredible achievement and a valuable contribution to support the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. But don't take my word for it, head over to our fundraising page and donate some money if you are able. And I especially want to give a big shout out to Skylight for all their support in providing me the space and time to run this breakfast! You can check out all the good mahi that Skylight do here.
Ngā mihi maioha,
